Woe b me... Moleskine lady in the hospital

Horrors...

I stopped by the bookstore today to pick up a new Moleskine notebook. Imagine my despair -- my horror -- to find the Moleskine shelf practically vandalized. Usually neat and tidy, and well-stocked, it was a mess of "sample" copies scribbled in, ripped, flung here and there. And no copies for sale (other than the "cahiers", which I find useless).

Several sharp snaps of my fingers attracted the attention of a rather vacant looking, though buxom, dolt who finally wandered over to find out why I was having a stroke.

"There are no Moleskine books here.... there are usually several Moleskine books here," I pointed out.

Dumpling flipped through them indifferently.... "I guess we're out."

"You're out of everything... no books, no journalist notebooks, no anything... just samples."

"Oh... yeah."

"So?"

"Well, that lady that's into this stuff, she's in the hospital."

"And?"

"And I don't know. If she doesn't come back, we'll probably throw all this out. I mean, it's expensive. Wouldn't one of those spiral notebooks be Ok?"

I am not religious, but if you are... light a candle for the health of the Moleskine lady.

You are no fun, Gunnar. Let's get a beer, soon.

I understand your affinity for the Moleskine notebooks (http://3oclockam.blogspot.com/2006/01/old-school-blogging.html#links). They can be tough to find, but luckily, Amazon has a great selection. My advice to you would be to say goodbye to 1994 and hello to e-commerce.

I was preaching e-commerce to peasants 15 years ago, so I put your advice back up on the bean truck where it belongs.

Don't touch, emaw. Don't touch.
