Communitelligence has feeds after all (mea culpa)

Weelll... I sure stepped in it.

Yesterday, I wrote about Communitelligence, the pretty cool communication portal set up by John Gerstner.

Readers will remember that I had some nitpicking to do about the blogs: smart writers, but no RSS feeds.

John quickly pointed out that they do all have RSS feeds & there's a subscribe button at the bottom of each blog.

Ooops. I don't know what happened there, since I looked once, twice, thrice and sure didn't see it the first time around. After John's note, I spotted it right away.

He also takes pains to stress that Communitelligence is not a "for pay" site. That was a bad choice of wording on my part; you don't have to pay to go there and read. However, it is a commercial enterprise.

At any rate: it's a smart stable of communicator/bloggers over there. Well worth a visit.

Sprint apologizes...and that’s all I wanted

Sprint, after some prompts in which I raised the issue of whether it is wise for a known firm (Sprint) to engage in clearly illegal activity (spam) against residents of the European Union (me), I received the following note from Rose Capra of Sprint.

Mr. Jenkins,

Sorry for the delayed response. As you may have received my out of office message, I have been traveling and it has been difficult to check and respond to email.

Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding the Sprint Ambassador program. I'm very sorry if the original invitation sent, or subsequent communication to you caused any offense or inconvenience. Please be assured that this was not the intent, and that extending an invitation to someone who could not participate in our program due to geographic location was human error, and an honest mistake. I assure that you were not put into any databases as a result of these communications, and you will not be receiving any unsolicited emails about the Sprint Ambassador program in the future.

Thank you for your communication on this matter. I wish you well in your current and future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Rose Capra

Sprint Consumer Marketing

I am not going to fisk the note or the incident. Sprint apologized, and that's good enough for me.

But it's clear they don't read or respect bloggers.... just use them.

It Would Have Redefined Blogging: Wright's On a Roll

Jeremy Wright is having one hell of a year....

Last year, he was hired for blogging, but this year allegedly got fired for it.

Then he apparently was hired again for blogging. He later claimed that US officials prevented him from entering the US , thus losing him a US$ 20,000 contract that would "redefined blogging".

UPDATE: I've heavily edited my original post. Like many bloggers, I relayed the story without questioning it.

FURTHER UPDATE:  Shelley Powers smells something fishy about Jeremy's story; indeed says she is "99.99 sure... it is completely fabricated."  She raised the issue on her Burningbird blog, but the discussion is happening over at Joi Ito's place.

FINAL UPDATE: After a few emails with Jeremy, I have my own doubts about many parts of the story. And few certainties. What "really happened" to Jeremy will never be known unless he presses for official facts to be released -- which he refuses to do. Until then, it's his word against.... well, nothing.

I apologize to Desirable Roasted Coffee readers for passing on the story without being far more critical.
